With a wide-ranging set of cross-genre covers, singalongs, and original songs, Willie creates shows that feel inclusive, uplifting, and memorable. He first gained national attention as co-frontman of Astrid in the late ‘90s, achieving Radio 1’s Single of the Week and syncs for Target (US) and Philips (Europe). He later co-founded indie collective The Reindeer Section with Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody. As a solo artist, Willie has released multiple acclaimed projects – including three albums with The Open Day Rotation (produced by Tony Doogan of Mogwai/Belle & Sebastian fame) and work with The Tumbling Souls (new album 2024). His career has been celebrated in a BBC documentary, and he is endorsed by Vintage Guitars. In 2010, Willie signed to Nashville’s Big Loud Shirt Publishing, gaining invaluable experience writing in the city’s competitive songwriting rooms and collaborating with some of its finest writers. Willie has also been commissioned for major songwriting projects exploring Scottish history and culture (including Dìleab, Trèoir, and Between Islands) and continues to collaborate widely. Astrid reunited in 2019 to release Fall Stand Dance on Edwyn Collins’ AED label. “Campbell and MacNeil’s first single is built around the former’s chiming music box-cadence – absolutely beautiful.” – The Guardian
